Viewers are ‘grossed out’ after watching a ‘disturbing’ full frontal scene in an X-rated TV series.
HBO has dropped the third season of one of its most popular shows, praised by fans and critics for its sharp writing, dark humor, and well-developed characters.
However, a scene in its latest series has sparked controversy on social media.
One person questioned: “Is anyone else creeped out by Patrick Schwarzenegger’s full-frontal scene? Or is it just me…”
Another added: “We’ve got to kill Patrick Schwarzenegger’s character off immediately in season three.”
“Going feral at that bathroom scene with Patrick Schwarzenegger,” commented a third.
Emmy Award-winning series The White Lotus is an anthology drama, with each new edition following a different set of rich tourists and service industry employees at high-end international resorts.
Created, written, and directed by Mike White, the first and second seasons were set in Hawaii and Sicily, respectively. Meanwhile, the third season was filmed in Thailand.
Previous seasons have featured a star-studded cast, including Jennifer Coolidge, Theo James, Sydney Sweeney, Aubrey Plaza, and Tom Hollander.
The third season also stars a huge range of big names, such as Jason Isaacs, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Aimee Lou Wood, and Charlotte Le Bon.
The official synopsis for The White Lotus season three reads: “Dark secrets and twisted truths of the guests and staff of a luxury resort are unveiled over the course of a week in this multi-award-winning drama.”
The plot of the third season largely follows the Ratliff family, who are visiting Thailand so the daughter, Piper, can interview a Buddhist monk for her college thesis.
The family of five shares a villa with three bedrooms, meaning two siblings must share.
Piper says she’d share her room with her youngest brother Lochlan, but Saxon (played by Schwarzenegger) insists it’s ‘weird’ if a brother and sister sleep in the same room when they have ‘full grown g**itals.’
Toward the end of the episode, fans were quick to point out an uncomfortable storyline that seems to be looming between the two brothers.
While sharing a room, Saxon makes a provocative comment to his brother about their sister’s appearance, suggesting she’s attractive but likely still celibate due to her commitment to a Buddhist lifestyle.
He then awkwardly shifts the conversation by asking his younger brother about his preferences in adult content, which the younger sibling brushes off with a laugh.
Saxon also openly questions how he’ll manage his sexual urges during the week, eventually deciding he’ll take care of it in the bathroom.
In a later scene, viewers are shown a full-frontal shot of Schwarzenegger’s character as he stands completely nude in the bathroom in front of his brother.
The scene has led fans to speculate that the show may be hinting at a controversial storyline involving inappropriate familial dynamics.
