Fans have discovered a pulse-pounding thriller on Netflix that’s been sparking a wave of reactions online.
One user posted: “This Netflix movie is intense as hell—felt like I had 10 heart attacks watching it!”
Another commented: “Caught it last night. Had me on edge the whole time. Seriously well done.”
A third viewer shared: “This film gave me nonstop anxiety from the first scene to the last… absolutely gripping

Since landing on Netflix, the film has skyrocketed in popularity, racking up over 24 million views within just three days of its release.
Despite the buzz from viewers, critics have been more reserved in their praise, pointing to a plot that some feel plays it a bit too safe—reflected in its 59% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Directed by Albert Pintó, the Spanish-language survival thriller tells the gripping story of Mia, a pregnant woman portrayed by Anna Castillo, who is fleeing a brutal totalitarian regime. Her desperate bid for freedom turns harrowing when a violent storm sends the shipping container she’s hiding in plunging into the ocean.

Trapped inside the container, Mia is forced to give birth and fight to stay alive—for both herself and her newborn.
While the film’s intense realism has led many viewers to wonder if it’s inspired by true events, both director Albert Pintó and actress Anna Castillo have confirmed that the story is entirely fictional.

In an interview with ES Euro, Castillo described the film as portraying a “dystopian reality,” emphasizing the extraordinary measures a person might take to break free from it.

“The people who die at sea every day—that’s a tragedy,” the actress said. “But this film isn’t focused on that. I’ve already done Mediterráneo, which was a social drama highlighting the work of Open Arms. Nowhere is a dystopian reality.”
She added, “The totalitarian regime is there to provide context for the character, to help viewers understand why this girl is risking everything by hiding in a shipping container.”
According to Netflix, Nowhere is inspired by a story created by Indiana Lista, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Ernest Riera, Miguel Ruz, Seanne Winslow, and Teresa Rosendoy.

Despite its popularity, some critics have argued that the storyline plays it a bit too safe, a sentiment reflected in its 59% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
