While Netflix is known for its collection of dark movies and TV shows, some of them often fly under the radar.
One such film has recently sparked a wave of reactions on X (formerly Twitter), where viewers are expressing their shock and disbelief.
“It’s so scary and stomach-churning,” one viewer commented.
Another added, “The movie is so graphic and horrifying to watch.”
A third person shared, “Crying my eyes out.”
Someone else wrote, “That has to be one of the most heartbreaking, gut-wrenching stories I’ve ever heard.”

The TV movie, directed by Alex Kalyminios, features a star-studded cast including Orange Is the New Black‘s Taryn Manning, The Closer‘s Raymond Cruz, and Justice League‘s Joe Morton.
The film is based on the harrowing real-life kidnapping of three women in Cleveland in the early 2000s, drawing from Michelle Knight’s memoir, Finding Me: A Decade of Darkness, a Life Reclaimed.

The chilling film is based on a real and horrifying story. Between 2002 and 2004, Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus were abducted by Ariel Castro and held captive in his home in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio.
The three women endured years of imprisonment in what became known as a “house of horrors” until 2013, when Berry managed to escape and seek help.

After Berry’s escape, Michelle Knight, Gina DeJesus, and Berry’s six-year-old daughter—whom she had given birth to while in captivity—were freed. Ariel Castro was arrested shortly after.
Castro was later sentenced to life in prison, plus an additional 1,000 years without the possibility of parole.
During his sentencing, he attempted to justify his actions by claiming an addiction to s** and p***ography, stating (as reported by NBC News), “I’m not a monster. I’m sick.”

Just one month into his sentence, the 53-year-old took his own life.
According to a report on Castro’s death from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, via CNN, he penned a note saying that those who confessed with their heart ‘will be saved.’
He reportedly wrote in all capital letters: “God loves you, for all are sinners, we all fall short of the glory of God. Christ is my savior and yours!!”
