With countless new series constantly dropping across streaming platforms, picking your next binge can feel overwhelming.
If you’re stuck on what to watch next, this must-see show might just be the one—viewers are absolutely hooked.

Fans can’t stop raving about the series on social media. One viewer shares, “I’m not usually into medical dramas and never got into Grey’s Anatomy, but I absolutely LOVE this show.”
Another adds, “What a fantastic series! It blends humor with real-life situations, showing both the professional side and how it affects their personal lives.”
A third fan writes, “I’m on my third rewatch and still loving it. Like many others have said, it’s the humanity in this show that carried it through five incredible seasons.”
And one emotional viewer confesses, “Not me sobbing into my popcorn during the first episode!”

Critics have also shown plenty of love for the medical drama. Jasmine Blu of TV Fanatic noted, “It’s another medical drama, yes, but it’s refreshing and has so much heart.”
Britt Lawrence from Cinemablend praised its authenticity, writing, “It captures everything fans expect from the genre, yet avoids clichés—embracing its emotional core without losing the raw, unflinching truth it portrays.”
And Dustin Rowles of Pajiba highlighted the show’s depth, saying, “It admirably goes beyond treating symptoms, delving into the social, cultural, and emotional roots behind each case.”

Inspired by Eric Manheimer’s book “Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital,” the NBC series centers on Dr. Max Goodwin—portrayed by Ryan Eggold—as he takes on the challenge of transforming New Amsterdam Medical Center, one of New York City’s oldest public hospitals.
According to the official synopsis: “After becoming the medical director of one of the oldest public hospitals in the United States, Dr. Max Goodwin sets out to reform the institution’s neglected and outdated facilities to better serve its patients.”

Much to the disappointment of fans, New Amsterdam wrapped up its journey with the fifth and final season in early 2023.
Star Ryan Eggold opened up to NBC Insider about the emotional challenge of saying goodbye to the beloved series.
