Emily Ratajkowski, 33, first gained recognition through her role on the hit Nickelodeon show iCarly.
She later transitioned into film, landing major roles in Gone Girl and We Are Your Friends.

If you don’t know Ratajkowski from her film appearances, you might recognize her from Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams’ “Blurred Lines” music video.
Lately, though, the I Feel Pretty star has been making just as many headlines for her daring Instagram photos — some of which have been humorously mimicked by a comedian.

Australian comedian Celeste Barber shared her own versions of Ratajkowski’s photos, along with spoofs of other celebrity Instagram posts.

Speaking to USA Today, she said: “I’ve auditioned for roles where producers told me I was too pretty to be considered. It’s incredibly frustrating. You can miss out on parts simply because they’ve seen too many photos of you modeling. The industry tends to typecast based on appearances, and it takes real courage for someone to take a chance on you.”

“It had never crossed my mind that women who derived their power from beauty were actually beholden to the men whose desire gave them that power,” Ratajkowski wrote, according to the New York Post.
“In reality, it was the men who held the control, not the women being admired by the world.”

“This whole situation with Celeste has been blown way out of proportion. Overall, I actually find her really funny,” Ratajkowski explained. “The message I was trying to send was simply, ‘I just don’t want you to do this to me anymore.’”
She continued, “[I just want] the space to do my thing — whether that’s writing about my difficult experiences in an industry that fails to protect women, young girls, and femme-presenting people, or running a swimwear line.”
