Dolly Parton has left fans gobsmacked after taking off her wig and showing off her natural hair for the first time.

The ‘9 to 5’ singer, 78, is known for her decades-long career in the music industry, with hit tracks such as ‘Islands in the Stream’ and ‘Jolene’.

As well as having a successful career in the music industry, Parton manages entertainment venues, including the Dollywood theme park and Splash Country Waterpark.

But the ‘Coats of Many Colors’ singer is also known for her iconic sequins, sparkles and bold makeup.

Martha Stewart recently opened up about why she skips wearing underwear, and in a candid interview with WSJ Magazine, she also revealed a quirky part of her nighttime routine. “I do all my beauty treatments and clean my face in the morning because I like to keep my makeup on overnight,” she shared. “You never know when an earthquake, tornado, or storm might hit, and you have to run outside in the middle of the night.”

Meanwhile, Dolly Parton has long been known for her signature voluminous blonde hair — which, as it turns out, is a wig. The country music icon has always been refreshingly honest about her look, once playfully remarking, “People always ask me how long it takes to do my hair. I don’t know, I’m never there.”

In her book ‘Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones’, the ‘Here You Come Again’ artist actually reveals that since the ’80s, she always slept with a full face of makeup on in case of an emergency.

“When I arrived in LA in the ‘80s, I started sleeping with my makeup on, partly because of the earthquakes,” she wrote.

Parton clarifies that she always makes sure to clean her face in the morning and does ‘all the little rituals’ when it comes to freshening up.

“Because I never know if there’s going to be an earthquake or a tornado or a storm and I’m going to have to go out in the middle of the night.”

And Parton is also known for her big and bouncy blonde hair – which is actually a wig.

Over the years, Parton has been incredibly open about why she wears wigs – having previously joked: “People always ask me how long it takes to do my hair. I don’t know, I’m never there.”

While celebrating the release of her book Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, country music icon Dolly Parton spoke with Vogue’s senior fashion and style writer, Christian Allaire, about her personal fashion rules.

“I began wearing wigs when I realized that bleaching and teasing my hair every day would eventually damage it and ruin the style,” Parton shared. “It was so convenient to have a variety of looks ready to go — that way, I’d never have a bad hair day.”

n her book Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics, the singer shared how she transitioned from styling her natural hair to wearing wigs.

“I used to always wear my hair teased up high,” she remembered, as quoted by Cheat Sheet. “When that big-hair trend began, I was one of the first to jump on it. And as soon as hairpieces and wigs became available, I was all in.

They were so convenient, and honestly, my own hair never quite did what I wanted it to. Before long, the wigs became a signature part of my look.”

Would you like it styled even more casually, formally, or with a storytelling flair?

Dolly Parton’s wigs have long been a signature part of her glamorous image, so fans were left in awe when a resurfaced Instagram post revealed a rare glimpse of the star’s natural hair.

In the striking black-and-white photo, the country legend stuns in a simple white sweater while posing in a recording booth — but it’s her natural locks that truly steal the spotlight.

Her hair, styled in a softer, more understated way than fans are used to, quickly won hearts online. One admirer commented, “Love it, her natural hair is very beautiful.” Another gushed, “Wow, Dolly! I absolutely love your natural hair — you are beyond gorgeous!”

A third fan summed it up perfectly: “What a beauty, inside and out.”
