Her agency, Elite Model Management, confirmed the heartbreaking news of her untimely death on Thursday through an official statement shared across its social media platforms.

Just hours prior to the announcement, an emotional message had been posted on Markovic’s official Instagram account, revealing that she was “fighting for her life.”

A follow-up post confirmed her passing, leaving fans and the fashion community in mourning.

Elite Model Management expressed deep sorrow at the loss, referring to Markovic as ‘a bright shining light.’

Donatella Versace, now a brand ambassador for the fashion house she once helmed, posted on Instagram: “I am so sorry to hear the news about @lucymarkovicc… Rest in peace, beautiful girl.”

Rising star and newly crowned Model of the Year, Alex Consani, also left a heartfelt comment on Markovic’s final post.

Her Australian agency, Kult Australia, honored her memory with a touching tribute: “Today, we lost a star… She was radiant, warm, and a beautiful soul.”

Markovic first stepped into the public eye in 2015 as a contestant on the ninth season of Australia’s Next Top Model, a show inspired by Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model.

Although she ultimately finished as the runner-up, her talent and charisma helped launch a successful modeling career that reached international heights.

Following her time on the show, Markovic became a regular on runways across the globe.

She walked for prestigious fashion houses such as Armani, Versace, Oscar de la Renta, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, and Bulgari.

She was also featured in high-profile advertising campaigns and appeared in leading fashion publications, including Marie Claire and various editions of Vogue.
