Amanda Seyfried had only praise for her Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan while speaking with E! News about Lohan’s recent career comeback.
“She’s got that something special,” said the Mamma Mia! star, 39. “There’s a charm and a smile—she just makes you want to root for her.”
Amanda also looked back fondly on reuniting with her Mean Girls co-stars for a viral Walmart commercial.
“It was so crazy and funny—we all did a Walmart commercial together,” she said. “Lindsay, Lacey [Chabert], and I just picked up right where we left off, at the heart of it.”
In the middle of the whirlwind red carpet moment, Amanda also shared her excitement about the upcoming Freaky Friday sequel, saying she’s looking forward to seeing Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis back on screen together.

Amanda Seyfried and Lindsay Lohan lit up the screen in the 2004 teen comedy Mean Girls, with Lohan portraying the new girl, Cady Heron, and Seyfried stealing scenes as the hilariously clueless Karen Smith, one of the iconic “Plastics.” The film was a smash hit, earning over $130 million globally and cementing its place in pop culture history thanks to Tina Fey’s razor-sharp script and endlessly quotable lines like, “On Wednesdays we wear pink.”
Even two decades later, Mean Girls continues to resonate, inspiring a Broadway musical, a 2024 film remake, and a loyal fanbase that celebrates the movie every October 3rd.
These days, Amanda is making waves with her latest role in the NBC drama Long Bright River, where she stars as Mickey Fitzpatrick—a Philadelphia police officer and single mom determined to uncover the truth behind a string of disappearances involving drug-addicted sex workers, one of whom is her own sister.
The series, based on Liz Moore’s bestselling novel and adapted by Nikki Toscano, not only showcases Amanda’s dramatic range but also marks her role as an executive producer. Critics and fans alike are already buzzing about her powerful performance.
During a recent interview with People to promote the show, Amanda shared a candid—and hilarious—red carpet mishap from the 2023 Critics Choice Awards.
“My boobs fell out of my dress,” she said with a laugh. “I was wearing this amazing vintage gown. I even made my stylist try it on beforehand just for fun.”

The look was a gold Dior gown with off-the-shoulder sleeves, which boasted a nude-toned sheer lining at the bust.
She remembered the instant the dress gave out in front of Nobody But You actor Glen Powell: ‘I was talking to Glen Powell in the corner near my table, and we were joking around about something and I lifted my arms up, and my boobs were just out. My dress fell apart.’
The Mean Girls sensation remembered Glen being polite about the blunder.
‘We both screamed, and like the gentleman he is, he covered me. He didn’t look… I think. None of us were expecting that, but that dress had truly just given up,’ she told the publication.
Seyfried noted about the shiny vintage frock, ‘It was kind of sewn together and it started truly falling apart, literally falling off of me on the red carpet, and I think there were even interviews where I’m saying it’s breaking off.’
While chatting with Access Hollywood on the red carpet, she did, in fact, say about the archival look: ‘Yeah, it’s old. It keeps breaking. I’m not kidding — it keeps ripping.’

‘It’s like, I’m like tacked…’ she began to say as one of her sleeves slipped down her shoulder.
Amanda then joked, ‘I’m just going to take off my dress,’ before emphasizing, ‘It’s old. It’s beautiful.’
Despite the sartorial mishap, the night was memorable for another reason — the longtime entertainer took home the Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television award for her work in The Dropout.
When she took the stage a second time to accept the win for Best Limited Series alongside the full ensemble, Seyfried opted to play it safe by wearing a black leather jacket over her designer threads.
