Naming a baby is often a deeply personal choice, shaped by everything from family heritage to pop culture influences.

While some parents choose names to honor late relatives, others draw inspiration from celebrities, historical figures, or beloved fictional characters.

Now, one mother has gone viral after revealing the inspiration behind the names she gave her twin boys—and it’s sparked a wave of online debate. What she once saw as a heartfelt tribute is now making her second-guess her decision amid mounting judgment from others.

The mother turned to Mumsnet for advice, expressing frustration over the criticism she’s received for her sons’ names.

“Being judged over my kids’ names? Really?” she wrote. “I’ve been a huge Oasis fan for as long as I can remember—sorry to any Blur fans out there—and the band has genuinely inspired and influenced me throughout my life.”

Noel and Liam Gallagher, the iconic brothers at the heart of Oasis, helped shape the sound of the 1990s and became cultural icons in the process.

While the mother saw naming her twins after them as a heartfelt tribute, the reaction from others has been decidedly mixed.

The mom’s post sparked over 200 responses, with users eager to share their thoughts on her naming choice.

While some reassured her that the names are perfectly normal, others were less supportive.

One commenter wrote: “Liam and Noel are actually pretty standard, mainstream names. It’s not like you named them Ringo or something.”

Another chimed in with a humorous comparison: “Well, I know someone who named their twins Ronnie and Reggie, so…”

Others were more critical, with one user saying: “I’m not a fan of either name. And I get why naming two siblings after a famous duo might seem odd or amusing to some people.” They added, “But names are always divisive—at the end of the day, it’s your choice, and what others think doesn’t really matter.”

Still, one user bluntly remarked: “I’m not surprised people are laughing, to be honest.”
