Being suspicious of infidelity in a relationship is a stressful experience, but it’s important to gather concrete evidence before making accusations.
No one wants to damage a relationship with baseless claims, especially if their partner is innocent.
That’s where experts like private investigators come into the picture – and one seasoned PI has noticed a telling behavior that many unfaithful men share.

Ray Ranno, a seasoned private investigator from Connecticut, has spent years uncovering infidelity through careful surveillance work.
Throughout his career, he’s noticed a surprisingly consistent pattern among men who are cheating—one that’s simple but revealing.
In an appearance on the Locked In with Ian Bick podcast, Ranno shared insights into his intriguing line of work.
When a suspicious encounter raises red flags, Ranno steps in with his advanced tools to gather the evidence his clients are looking for.
While Hollywood might portray private investigators in trench coats wielding bulky cameras, Ranno’s approach is much more subtle and driven by cutting-edge technology.

He described using a seemingly ordinary item – a coffee cup – that’s actually equipped with a hidden high-definition camera.
“If I go into a coffee place, or a supermarket, wherever I need to be, I just take the lid off, turn it on, put the cap on and it looks like I’m walking around with a coffee. Meantime, I’m videotaping everything,” he explained.
After capturing video and photographic evidence, Ranno hands it over to the person who hired him, helping them confirm whether their suspicions were valid.
He also revealed a key behavior he’s observed time and time again when following suspected cheaters.

“If a guy’s going to pick up his sweetie on the side, he wants a clean car,” Ranno said. It may seem like a small detail, but for Ranno, this action is a major red flag.
According to him, this act of cleaning the car isn’t just about cleanliness – it’s a preparatory move that often precedes meeting up with someone they’re trying to impress.
“As soon as somebody goes to the car wash I think, ‘Ha ha, what’s next?’ It’s amazing how they do that,” he added.
Ranno further explained that this behavior tends to be more common among men than women.
“Women don’t do it so much because they usually jump in the guy’s car,” he noted. “Men always want to drive. It’s very rare that I see a guy jump into a female’s car.”
Although each case is unique, it seems that a quick trip to the car wash might mean more than just a desire for a shiny vehicle – it could be the first clue that something’s going on behind the scenes.
